CIOs of Public Health Departments find it a challenge to effectively envision, establish, and maintain the IT infrastructure that supports our public health departments when they or their staff do not have or develop critical core work competencies. The IT Workforce Competencies area of the NAPHIT web site provides or links to information about IT workforce competency issues.

We welcome any feedback on this area of the site, and especially encourage people to contribute any additional items relevant to IT workforce compentencies. Clinger-Cohen Assessment Survey. Review the findings from an extensive assessment of the federal IT workforce conducted in September 2003. The assessment was sponsored by the Federal Chief Information Officers (CIO) Council, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) e-Gov Office, and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Read the Clinger-Cohen Assessment Survey, which is available for download from the Chief Information Officers Council web site, www.cio.gov.

CIO University Learning Objectives (derived from the Clinger-Cohen core competencies). CIO University refers to the Clinger-Cohen core competencies when developing the learning objectives for their CIO uiversity coursework. Learn about the twelve core competency areas, along with detailed core competencies that are part of the CIO University's learning objectives.
